These are the musicals that didn't work, for one reason or another, but had a lot going for them. Some had a tremendous amount going for them. Often they had a great score, but a weak book, or the production team was great on paper, but the professional synergy just didn't emerge. These shows certainly don't belong on the "suck" list, and some of them have even made their way onto my "best" or "next-best" list. While ultimately unsuccessful, at least financially, these musicals are all worthy of attention, if only through extant (but sometimes out-of-print) cast recordings.
